English Heritage have been bringing a more human feel to their imagery and their brand. As an extension of their tradition of beautifully-crafted pictures of beautiful locations and buildings, they needed images that show the joy of a visit, especially with a family.

These were shot on one of the first "castle sleepovers" on a freezing February at Pendennis Castle in Falmouth, working with non-professional models. It might have been a challenge to keep the images looking warm and happy, but the models' expressions seemed to really carry the shoot.

Working with "real" people like this has become something of a speciality of mine.
